Integrative Functional Therapy promotes healing and facilitates wholeness – ensuring that all levels of your being are maximized to their highest potential - mental, physical, emotional and spiritual.  Integrative Functional Therapy is tailored to seek out the source and origin of issues and then to meet and solve your exact needs and concerns using the latest cutting edge research and modalities.  

 

My approach is a tenacious ‘integrative and functional’ one - broadly defined as looking at all aspects of the person and issue (first the microbiome, then foods, toxins, life-style, social, emotional, mental, spiritual, physical and inner well-being issues) and working to find and mitigate/eliminate the ‘root causes’. Most physical/emotional issues have more than one cause.

I believe that we were created with incredible self-healing bodies, and if we provide them with the right thoughts, motivations, pure foods and care as they were originally designed for their maintenance, they can perform their God-given ability of restoring our natural health. I recommend a natural diet based of foods as close to the way they were originally created and grown as possible. I believe that altered foods aren’t just neutral in their impact on our health but are foreign to our body and rob it of health as do artificial additives. I believe that as our body is supplied with the high-quality fuel from a natural diet, healthy thoughts, feelings, and emotions, healthful lifestyle habits, it has the materials and support needed to rebuild health. I recommend in all areas of life and health that we strive to live according to our original optimal design, including our relationship with others, pure water, fresh air, sunshine, physical activity, rest, and healthful stress maintenance.

As a Counselor/Therapist and a Therapeutic Coach, I have over 40 years’ experience helping thousands of people through a myriad of issues and have facilitated personal discovery, growth, development and healing through a unique blend of the latest proven cutting edge therapies, traditional, spiritual and natural health & wellness modalities. How Can Counselling Help?

 
 

Helping people is my passion!  Learning how to do that is my lifelong pursuit!  In over forty years of practice we have helped restore the lives of thousands of people from every walk of life, dealing with almost every area imaginable.  I am constantly keeping abreast of the latest research.

Whether you show it from the outside or not, everyone becomes overwhelmed sometimes in life. The world we live in today is demanding and fast paced. There are times when you feel like they you have gone off track and lost some of the meaningfulness of your life. At other times, difficult life experiences create a feeling of being stuck and unable move forward or process life events such as grief, trauma and life transitions.

In counselling you will learn to look at life and your concerns in an entirely different way. While friends and family try to provide a sympathetic ear, a trained and experienced therapist uses evidence based techniques to help you move toward solutions to the problems you are struggling with.

The term “evidence based” simply means the techniques have been tested according to specific standards and have been found to be effective. In therapy you will learn specific emotional and social skills, which can dramatically help you shift the way you relate to yourself and to others.

Within the confidential, restful and safe space of DRay’s office you can honestly talk about your private thoughts and struggles. DRay is trained to provide you with empathic, honest and non-judgemental perspective as well as specific help regarding the problems you are experiencing.

Studies have found that the relationship between you and your therapist is the key to a successful therapeutic experience. A major 1995 Consumer Reports study concluded that patients benefited substantially from therapy but that the actual techniques used were less important that the connection between you and the therapist. The key to successful therapy is a connected, trusting relationship.

Talk Therapy Techniques.

 
 

Dr Ray feels we all have our own unique ways of looking at the world, ourselves, and other people so to be the most effective at helping you I have a toolbox of talk therapy skills and interventions.  This is sometimes known as Integrative or Eclectic Therapy approach.  Equipped with appropriate tools, in discussion with you we can devise a powerful unique plan that is best suited for your issues and goals in counselling.

I draw from  a number of approaches in creating individualized treatment plans. They are combined in a distinctive ways to create the possibility for dramatic effective change. I will not go into the theory of each approach but simply overview some therapies that I use.

Cognitive therapy (CBT) is probably the most popular and effective talk therapy for dealing with depression and anxiety. The idea here is to simultaneously modify thoughts and behaviours to help the individual not only get beyond the negative core beliefs that are holding them back but also change the behaviour patterns they have developed in response to those thought patterns. It is often our troublesome behaviour that first brings us to therapy, and then, once we have somewhat modified the behaviour, you are in a position to work on changing the negative thoughts that create the unwanted behaviour in the first place.  CBT is probably the most impacting talking therapy… it can help change how you think (“Cognitive or Truth”) and what you do (“Behaviour or Actions”). These changes can often help you to feel better quicker than other talk therapies. CBT focuses on the ‘here and now’ problems and difficulties. Instead of focusing on the causes of your distress or symptoms in the past, it looks for ways to improve your state of mind now. DRay’s effective Life-Change Tools ® and Marriage Life Change Tools ® employ CBT.

Integrative or Eclectic Therapy: While I primarily use CBT, I also use a number of other therapies as needed to best help you achieve your counseling goals. Eclectic or Integrative Therapy is essentially a common sense approach to effectively help you on-going by tailoring therapy to your individual needs and issues. I may not strictly adhere to all the parameters of the many therapies. For instance, I may use Positive Psychology in combination with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and at times add elements of others like Reality Therapy.

As needed I use Family therapy defined as a type of psychotherapy that focuses on families and couples in intimate relationships, in hopes of bringing change and positive development.  In other words, family therapy may help you better your relationships and understanding within your family and close relationships.

Where appropriate we may need to explore your unconscious thoughts and feelings and relate this to underlying emotional conflicts, interpret defensive mechanisms and how they related to your self-esteem this is known as Psychoanalytic Therapy.

Another type of therapy that I sometimes integrate is Gestalt Therapy which involves determining what happened during your childhood and how these events have interrupted the normal developmental process. Uncovering these events may go a long way towards helping you understand and prevent it from holding him back from what you want to do with your life.

Dr Ray is aware that some problems, pain, depression, anxiety and addiction are difficult to be healed through traditional therapy and other alternative methodologies. He knows that healing comes from the hand of God. The phrase “inner healing” has been used for several decades to refer to the ministry of the Godhead to bring deep inward healing.

Inner Healing is the healing of the inner person, the spirit and the deep hurts and past wounds.

  • Inner healing is the healing of memories.

  • Inner healing is the healing of the wounds created by the hurts of others as well as negative personal choices.

  • Inner healing is also the releasing of bondage’s, addictions and compulsive behaviours and substance abuse.

What type of Inner Healing does Dr Ray use?

Dr. Ray uses has studies over 18 different types of inner healing and has felt God led him to ‘Lie Busters’ inner healing system – he sometimes will use his known as ‘Christ Led Inner Healing’.

 

Lie busting is a fast, simple, powerful yet gentle freedom prayer model that facilitates the power of God to set you free to live out your purpose. Each session takes 60-90 minutes and can be done in person or over the Internet. The outcome is oneness with self, others and with GOD. The process may include own life and blood line cleansing, DNA reset, integration of stuck personality parts, land redemption and life changing heavenly encounters.

HOW DOES LIE BUSTING WORK?

  • Liebusting is a gentle process whereby a trained and trusted Liebuster leads you to connect your spirit with God's Spirit. This results in the identification of lies and trauma that may have been rooted in a past event in your own life or in a past event in the life of one of your ancestors.

  • Trauma and pain open the door to lies that oppress you. It has now been scientifically proven that DNA holds the record of your trauma and that of your ancestors as well.

  • Your DNA can be reset by replacing lies with truth, resulting in healing and freedom from oppression. Liebusting aligns your spirit with God's Spirit, allowing you to experience pure love.

  • In addition to dealing with lies, pain and trauma, Liebusting helps those parts of yourself that have got stuck emotionally at different ages, or that have been separated from your core self, to become integrated. Without integration, when parts are triggered, they can sabotage your present, they can be voices in your head and cause irrational behaviour, inconsistencies in relationships and mood swings.

ON-LINE WORLD COUNSELLING

 



What Is Online Counselling?

Online counselling, or video counselling, is communicating with Dr. Ray through your computer, smart phone, or tablet, with an aim for behavioural or mental health improvement. In other words, online counselling means having a counselling session with me, your therapist via telephone, online video call, or any other form of technology, without coming to my office.

Convenience is a major component of online counselling. Many people appreciate the benefit of being able to connect with a therapist from the comfort of their own home – this can help save you time.

How Effective Is Online Counselling?

Online counselling is rapidly growing, and it’s for a good reason. It’s convenient, easily accessible, and, for some people, more comfortable in terms of opening and feeling less stigmatized. But most importantly, online counselling proved to be, in most instances, as effective or even more effective as face-to-face therapy!

However, one size does not fit all. Let’s see below if online counselling is the right choice for you.

Who is Online Counselling For?

Distance counselling might be a great option if you:

  • have been referred to Dr. Ray and do not live in his local area

  • are a missionary or part of an NGO ministering overseas in areas where Christians therapy is very limited or non-existence

  • live in an area where the choice of mental health professionals is limited

  • are familiar with using online technology or feel this form of communication is comfortable for you

  • have challenges visiting our office (physical disability, living in rural or an isolated area, extensive travel time, inconvenient working schedule etc.)

Online Counselling is Not For Everyone

While distance counselling can be really convenient and effective, it is not for everyone. Online counselling may not be the best choice if you don’t have suitable conditions for it such as:

  • Your internet access is not fully private or secure [Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp Video are encrypted both sides)

  • Your internet connection is unstable or weak [the picture and sound can break up and make it difficult to hear)

  • You don’t have access to a safe, private space free from interruptions for online sessions

  • You are not familiar or don’t feel comfortable using technology

Some problems cannot be resolved online or are best addressed in a face-to-face setting, such as:

  • Loss of contact with reality (psychotic symptoms)

  • Severe cognitive symptoms that affect person’s communication or reasoning ability

  • Some trauma and post-traumatic stress symptoms

  • Some panic disorder or severe anxious or depressive symptoms

  • Suicidal ideas and intentions

 What About Confidentiality?

Our practice is compliant with the Privacy Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the Personal Information Protection And Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)In short, it means that your personal information is strongly confidential with Dr. Ray (except in some legal situations) and that you have the right to access it.

We are taking all reasonable measures and safeguards to protect your privacy and make electronic communication secure. However, due to the technical nature of this form of therapy, complications regarding complete confidentiality may arise or servers may go down which would affect access and response time.

 

What is the difference between counseling, coaching and therapeutic coaching?

Coaching looks toward the future, whereas therapy often looks to the past. Life coaching is truly its own unique service designed to help ambitious achievers meet the outcomes that will bring them success and fulfillment, in any and all areas of life. People seek coaching as a method for creating a new future. Coaching is about starting from where you are, receiving support, guidance, encouragement, learned widow to do the inner work necessary to create outer transformation.

Therapy, also called counseling is a process in which a patient/client works with a healthcare professional to diagnose and resolve problematic beliefs, behaviors, relationship issues, feelings and sometimes physical responses. The idea behind therapy is to look at past traumas, triggers, misbelieves, and any other issues to change self-destructive habits, repair and improve relationships and work through painful feelings

A Therapeutic Coach has the skilful combination of training, knowledge and experience in therapy as well as coaching to help you reach your true potential – to become the best, healthiest, most fulfilled, and passionate version of yourself.

Telephone, Video & Internet Counselling & Coaching

I have had the opportunity and privilege of counselling and coaching people from all over the world.

We service NGO’s, corporations and missionaries located in remote areas where local help is not available. Some people find that it is easier and less threatening to begin therapy or life-coaching over the phone. Many feel more comfortable and relaxed working through emotional issues in the privacy of their own home or office. The telephone allows even the most shy or reluctant person to achieve closeness at a comfortable, safe distance. You may also feel safer talking about an embarrassing or shaming issue.


 

Advantages to You


1. Comfort

Some people find that it is easier and less threatening to begin therapy over the phone. Many feel more comfortable and relaxed working through emotional issues in the privacy of their own home or office. The telephone allows even the most shy or reluctant person to achieve closeness at a comfortable, safe distance. You may also feel safer talking about an embarrassing or shaming issue.

Individuals and couples in smaller towns may also find it ideal that they don’t have to reveal deeply personal issues to someone in their community. Missionaries and NGO personnel may not have local therapy resources. Celebrities, therapists, ministers of religion, local leaders also seem to benefit from this approach.

2. Time Save

Too busy? No more taking the time to go to and from your therapists office. You won’t have to get in your car, fight traffic, or go a considerable distance for a therapy appointment.

It is also going to be much easier to fit in a session when you are trying to get everything done in a hectic schedule. Or for people who have very busy lives and only limited or unpredictable time off of work.

3. More Convenient Times

It is nice to be able to call when it is convenient for you. Work it around your job, your kids so you don’t have to leave them or find a baby-sitter, or for frequent travelers who are often out of town.

You can also call at times of emotional pain or right when you need extra support. Our turn around response time is excellent. Couples who get stuck can just pick up their phone for pre=arranged support working through an issue (and don’t have to wait for their next session to work it out).

4. Call From Anywhere

No matter where you go. You can reach me from anywhere — home, office, cell phone, while traveling…

5. Productive Sessions

Telephone counselling has proven to be highly effective. Some people find that the time spent on the telephone is even more efficient. Being at ease in their own home, people are likely to be less inhibited and guarded. Couples can be on the phone in separate rooms where they are less apt to be triggered. People tend to get down to business, get more work done, and progress faster over the phone. So the results can be significant.

Telephone counselling is also an effective medium when people are emotionally overloaded or when couples are in the midst of an upset. After all, it has long been proved very helpful with crisis intervention services, hot lines, and suicide prevention.

6. Is Effective For Learning Skills

All of my Life-Change Tools ®, Life Skills Tools, Couples Life Skill Tools, various courses, and other information for learning are written out with easy to follow instructions. As needed, you will be sent these learning skills sheets through email. They enable you to progress more rapidly as you applying these tools.

7. Affordable

My telephone rates are normally less that my fees for face-to-face therapy visits.


How Telephone or Video Coaching / Counselling Works


1. Here’s how you start

Send an e-mail to info@dray.ca and provide:

  1. the town and country and address where you live;

  2. your time zone;

  3. the days and times that you would like counselling or life-coaching; and alternatives;

  4. the approximate length of time you would like to book;

  5. your telephone number with area code or Skype address.

Once I receive this I will send you all additional information via e-mail.

If the telephone counselling is a long distance call than you are responsible for the long distance telephone charges.

2. Sessions are billed in 15 minute increments.

You can book as many minutes as you desire in 15 minute increments. Many people are accustomed to a 60 minute session. So after 50 minutes, I will notify you that there is 10 minutes left for 60 minutes.

3. The sliding scale.

The lowest end of the sliding scale fee is .80 cents per minute and the highest end of the scale $3.75 per minute. Verification of family income may be required.

4. Payment methods.

You may pay via cheque, money order (received in advance of sessions), or MasterCard or VISA.

Skype Telephone & Video Counselling

Since Skype is normally the communication system I use for online talk or video chat, I ask that you make sure you have successfully tested your Skype download and any audio or video equipment you may be using, before an appointment for online counselling.


E-mail Counselling

If you chose to work through an issue by e-mail then you generally must work a little harder at revealing … not concealing yourself and your feelings, because I will not have all the usual visual and auditory clues to pick up on this. If you are not comfortable writing expressively, informally and in some detail then perhaps telephone or video counselling may be a better way to achieve your goals.

If a therapist cannot see or hear you then they cannot interpret facial cues, voice tone & body language as a way of discerning what you are not saying or how you are feeling about what you are saying.

With practice though, you and a therapist can generally learn to sense one another’s moods in your email communication and it can be an effective and comfortable way to work on issues.

Most informational, educational, Life-Change Tools are included in the cost of the session.


How E-mail Counselling Works

E-mail counselling is any day at anytime for you and responses are returned by me within 24 hours on week-days and 48 hours on week-ends.

You send e-mails to: info@dray.ca and I will respond to your desired e-mail address. Encryption is available, if desired, but it is bit of a hassle to set-up and use.

You can purchase any number of minutes of email counselling in 15 minute increments. You are simply paying for the time that is required to read and respond with help through e-mails coming back to you from me.

We have a sliding scale rate of $0.50 cents to $2.75 per minute.
